    Why try acupuncture before pills?

    Here are the facts: there are 17,000 prescription opioid deaths and 80,000 NSAID and acetaminophen-related ER visits per year.

    Acupuncture is a non-addictive, low-cost, and effective treatment for pain.

    Governor Snyder has proclaimed October 24, 2015 as Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine Day in Michigan!

    We are excited to have received this honor for the second year in a row, just in time for our AOM Day celebration at the Capitol Building in Lansing!

    Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine Day is observed annually on October 24. It is part of an effort designed to increase public awareness of the progress, promise, and benefits of acupuncture and Oriental medicine.

    In Michigan Acupuncture is becoming more and more popular, both as a profession and as a health care choice. Several Michigan health care systems have Registered Acupuncturists on staff, such as the Henry Ford Health System and the Beaumont Health System. Registered Acupuncturists are also opening independent clinics all over the state, from Grand Rapids to Traverse City to Detroit!

    As the proclamation reads:

    WHEREAS, Acupuncture and Oriental medicine have a long and rich history as components of a comprehensive traditional medical system that has been used for thousands of years to diagnose and treat illness, prevent disease and improve well-being; and,

    WHEREAS, Practitioners of Acupuncture and Oriental medicine are dedicated to the highest standards of professionalism and maintain these standards through education, credentialing and a personal commitment; and,

    WHEREAS, Millions of Americans seek the services of acupuncturists and Oriental medicine practitioners each year; and,

    WHEREAS, It is vital that those in need of medical services understand the full realm of available modalities and seek competent and professional care;

    NOW, THEREFORE, I, Rick Snyder, governor of Michigan, do hereby proclaim October 24, 2015 as Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine Day in Michigan.

    The 2nd Annual Seminar was a terrific success. Originally conceived as a service to MAAOM members, this highly attended event has proved to fill a much needed role in bringing nationally and internationally renowned educators to Michigan.

    Drawing on his decades of experience as a practitioner and educator, Dr. Daoshing Ni filled the two days of classes with valuable clinical insights on using acupuncture, herbs, and qigong exercises to help patients with fertility issues.
